TAWAU: Member of Parliament for Tawau, Datuk Christina Liew visited 11 mosques in the Tawau Parliamentary Constituency in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration on Friday.
They are Masjid Nur Sulaisah Batu 15, Masjid Nurul Awal Kg Sg Apas, Masjid Jamek Kg Ranggu, Masjid Taufiq Al- Hidayah Kg Apas Parit, Masjid Nurul Falah Kg Membalua, Masjid Nurul Hidayah Kg Batu Payung, Masjid Saydina Abu Bakar Kg Tinagat, Masjid Al-Ehsan Kg Tinagat, Masjid Sirotul Mustaqim, Masjid Al- Khauthar Bandar Tawau and Masjid Babul Khair KgTitingan.
During her one-day visit, Christina gave out prayer mats and beef portions to the Muslim community to mark the occasion, and graced the Hari Raya Haji Korban Programme at Masjid Sirotul Mustaqim.
Apas Community Development Leader Mohd Shafiee Banjar, Imam Din Abu Bakar and Mosque Chairman Hj Sidik Ismail commended the Tawau MP for her goodwill and contribution to Masjid Sirotul Mustaqim.
Speaking to the people, she said it was apt for her to contribute during Hari Raya Aidiladha as it is a time of making sacrifices.
“I will be bringing more face masks for the people on my next visit. Beginning August l, the Government is making it mandatory for the public to wear masks in crowded places,” she told them.
Christina, who is also caretaker Deputy Chief Minister, unveiled mosque location signboards at Kg Sungai Apas, Kg Apas Parit, Kg Membalua, Kg Batu Payung and Kg Tinagat.
The Tawau Parliamentary Constituency comprises the state constituencies of Apas, Balung and Sri Tanjung.
Christina was accompanied by Tawau Parliamentary Chief Liaison Officer, Fung Thin Yein, Liaison Officer Robert Penggai, Kapitan Cina Chin Chong Min, Secretary of Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre, Steven Chan and Apas Community Development Officer, Samuel Fung.
